Itinerary
Day 1 :
Arrival in Krakow
Arrival to the cultural city of Krakow. After exiting customs, you’ll meet your driver in the terminal's arrivals hall. Then depart by car to the hotel where you can check in and freshen up before meeting a local guide in the lobby for an introductory tour of Krakow by visiting the Old Town and the impressive Rynek Gowny Square. See Jagiellonian University Museum Collegium Maius, Bishop's Palace, Planty Park and Wawel Royal Castle.The tour will finish at a local restaurant for dinner of local dishes. Afterwards,return to the hotel by car.
Day 2 :
After breakfast in the hotel, your group will meet a local guide in the hotel lobby for a full-day excursion by private coach beginning with a guided tour of the former concentration camp of Auschwitz, which today exists as a Memorial and Museum. After the visit, the group will travel east to the city of Wielicka for a tour of its interesting Salt Mine. (En route there will be an opportunity for group members to buy lunch). Composed of nine levels and concealed beneath the town, the mine surpasses a depth of 1000 feet and contains approximately 180 miles of corridors, 3,000 chambers, magnificent chapels, underground lakes, original tools, carvings and murals. After the guided tour of the mine, the group will return to the hotel in Krakow. The evening is free for group members to spend as they choose. This evening is also free for group members to enjoy Krakow on their own.
Day 3 :
After breakfast in the hotel, your group will be picked up for a day trip to the Tatra Mountains and Zakopane. You’ll stop to experience the hot, spring-fed pools and warm water slides of Bukovina Thermal Baths (Termy Bukovina). Ride the Mt. Gubalowka funicular, stroll Krupowki Street, and sample highland smoked cheese. After the visit the group will return to the hotel in Krakow. The evening is free for group members to spend as they choose.
Day 4 :
Arrive in Warsaw
This morning enjoy breakfast and time to relax before checking out of the hotel and transferring by private coach to the train station where your group will travel first class to Warsaw. Meet your local assistant on the platform as soon as your train pulls into the station. Then depart by private coach to the hotel where your group can check in and freshen up before meeting with a local guide. After a quick,private coach transfer to Warsaw's Old Town, your group will begin its day with lunch in a local cafe. Afterwards your guide will lead a fascinating tour of the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising. Here, you’ll will learn the military background of the infamous, 63-day battle as well as hear about the civilians' experience of living in a city under siege.
From here you will continue the morning sightseeing tour with a visit to the Fryderyk Chopin Museum to learn about Poland's most famous composer. Once the tour finishes at the hotel, group members will store their baggage with the reception staff (or check-in if the rooms are already ready). The afternoon is free for lunch and exploration on own. Consider checking out the former Gestapo Headquarters, now home to the Museum of Independence (note: children under 14 are not admitted). This evening at the agreed meeting time all group members will meet back in the hotel lobby to transfer to a local restaurant for a traditional Polish meal.
Day 5 :
After breakfast, your group will meet a local guide in the lobby for a sightseeing tour by private coach of Warsaw's best attractions with admission included inside the Royal Castle. You'll also travel down The Royal Route, which was the route that Poland's kings and queens took from The Royal Castle in the Old Town south to Wilanow Palace. Today it is rife with splendid buildings, universities, shopping, palaces, historic landmarks and churches including Ujazdow Castle, the Presidential Palace and the royal summer residence dubbed the "Palace on the Water" located inside Lazienki Park. Pending availability, after the coach and walking portions of the tour and free time for lunch, the group will return to the beautifully landscaped Lazienki Park to attend a free Chopin concert before returning to the hotel by private coach. The rest of the day is free to enjoy exploring Warsaw.
Day 6 :
Arrive in Poznan
This morning enjoy breakfast and time to relax before checking out of the hotel and transferring by private coach to the train station where your group will travel first class to Poznan. Meet your local assistant on the platform as soon as your train pulls into the station. Then depart by private coach to the hotel where your group can check in and freshen up before meeting with a local guide. You will begin the day with lunch in a local restaurant, then walk around the Old Town (including The Town Hall, The Old Market, the Royal Castle and much more) and the Imperial District (including stunning Imperial Castle - the youngest imperial residence in Europe) where you’ll learn plenty of fun facts about Poznań and Poland. From here you will go to the Stary Browar, a former brewery that has been transformed into a shopping and cultural center. Once back at the hotel, you can store your baggage with the reception staff (or check-in if the rooms are already ready). The rest of the afternoon is free for exploration on your own. This evening at the agreed meeting time, you’ll meet back in the hotel lobby to transfer to a local restaurant for a traditional Polish meal.
Day 7 :
Arrive in Gdansk
This morning enjoy breakfast and time to relax before checking out of the hotel and transferring by private coach to the train station where your group will travel first class to Gdansk. Meet your local assistant on the platform as soon as your train pulls into the station. Then depart by private coach to the hotel where your group can check in and freshen up before meeting with a local guide. You will begin the day with lunch in a local restaurant, then explore Old Town and learn about the people who live (and lived) in Gdansk, who attempted to control the city, and why the Crusaders came. From here you will go to the European Solidarity Centre, a museum devoted to the history of Solidarity, the Polish trade union and civil resistance movement, and other opposition movements of Communist Eastern Europe. Once back at the hotel, you can store your baggage with the reception staff (or check-in if the rooms are already ready). The rest of the afternoon is free for exploration on your own. Consider checking out Malbork Castle, a 13th-century Teutonic castle and fortress that is the largest castle in the world measured by land area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This evening at the agreed meeting time, you’ll meet back in the hotel lobby to transfer to a local restaurant for tonight’s farewell dinner
Day 8 :
After check-out, you’ll transfer this morning to Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport for your return flight.
